KPS newsletter

October 2020

Hi Everyone,

We hope you are keeping well and safe and you’re getting used to the strange ‘new normal’. We are now back in the office. As our office is small we are only allowed 2 people in it at a time, so we’re taking it in turns to work from home. However the office is always manned and we will continue to support you all as normal. Please keep in touch. We like to know how you are doing.

Grants Galore!

Jacque and Anna have been hard at work getting funding for KPS over the last few months, and have got grants from:

The National Lottery

The Foyle Foundation

Cornwall Community Foundation

The Oliver Borthwick Memorial Trust

The Marsh Christian Trust,

and the Tesco Bags of Help scheme

Helen’s successes

Our Support Worker, Helen, is also working hard to help our clients. Last month alone, she supported several clients to success in their PIP tribunals, reclaimed benefits for others, got compensation for a client from a high street bank and prevented someone becoming homeless. If you need help on these or any other issues, you can get in touch with Helen here.

Waterfall Gardens gets Red Ribbon Sculpture

The sculpture of a red ribbon which used to stand in the grounds of Trebullom, our respite and retreat centre, has found a new home in Truro. The sculpture has been looking for a new home since Trebullom closed in 2016. If you would like to see it for yourself it is in Waterfall Gardens, Truro on the opposite side of St George’s Road from St George the Martyr’s Church.

Fundraising raffle with a (very wet!) twist

As if last month wasn’t wet enough, Jacque and her wonderful daughter Jodie raised £167 for KPS by getting waterbombed live on Facebook!

People bought water-filled balloons, which were thrown at Jacque and Jodie by their lovely family (Jacque tells us her granddaughter particularly enjoyed doing this!) The balloons were filled with cold water…… Jacque begged for warm water but was overruled!

Every balloon got the buyer’s name entered into a raffle to win brilliant prizes. Many thanks to:

The Cowshed Spa in the St Moritz Hotel

The Eden Project

And Jodie’s company, Pure Beauty, for donating the prizes!

Congratulations to one of our clients for winning the prize donated by Pure Beauty – a Body Shop eyeshadow palette (it wasn’t rigged, honest!)

Congratulations to Jacque and Jodie for raising £167, and thank you for being such good sports!
