Anna – Administrator
Anna is Kernow Positive Support’s Administrator and is responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the Office. She joined the charity in September 2011 after volunteering for a number of year. She has a high level of experience and knowledge of fast and efficient processing in a variety of software packages. She is a resourceful and effective problem solver which is of great help to our service-users and fellow colleagues.
Anna is also a HIV Awareness Trainer and often attends Schools & Colleges within Cornwall to talk about HIV. These workshops increase awareness of HIV and help to end the stigma associated with HIV.
During her spare time, Anna is a member of a local Choir and her evenings are often filled with rehearsals and concerts. She is also learning Cornish.
Helen – Support Worker
Helen has an eclectic background, with a strong interest in people’s well-being. She has studied NLP, hypnotherapy and reflexology and a few other therapies that are more off-beat. She has practiced as a complementary therapist, but prior to her employment as KPS Support Worker, she cared for her mother who suffered from Parkinsons Disease, Diabetes and Cancer, until her mother’s peaceful death at home. After a period of personal recovery, Helen joined KPS in July 2017, bringing with her an understanding of the emotional roller-coasters of illness and caring.
Helen is skilled and adaptable at meeting the varied needs of our service-users. Many need help to navigate the complex benefits system or with housing needs. Helen is also happy to listen to any issues, emotional or practical, that might arise.
Where KPS is unable to help, there are a number of agencies that may. Helen will research and signpost the best ways of obtaining the help people need.
During Helen’s spare time, she enjoys going for long walks along the Cornish coastal path and cuddling on the sofa with her dog.
Amy – Compliance & Finance Officer
Amy joined Kernow Positive Support in May 2018 bringing with her over 10 years of accounts experience. She is a part-qualified accountant (AAT Level 3), with the goal of becoming qualified in the near future. Amy’s main responsibility at Kernow Positive Support is to ensure we have sufficient funding to secure the future of the charity.
Alongside Anna & Helen, Amy supports Kernow Positive Support’s HIV Prevention work. This includes distributing free condoms through the C-Card Scheme, HIV Awareness workshops and maintaining the charity’s strong partnership bonds.
Amy is also a member of a National Choir which keeps her very busy. Amy tries to maintain a healthy lifestyle and during her down time, attends a local gym. She also enjoys socializing with friends.
